For 127 years, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design has been a foundation for future-oriented thinking. One of the first to be established in Europe, this intellectual workshop undertook and fulfilled the task of visualizing and developing object, image and spatial design as well as fostering visual culture, an important medium and tool in shaping the quality of human existence.
MOME views itself as a place where thought, creation and action, artistic and scientific articulation, dialogue and critical expression are natural demands. It emphasizes the importance of preserving tradition, cultivating artistic areas developed in the past as well as developing design-based and visual artistic thinking. We are convinced that practice and theory can be reconciled in the creative process. We believe in the coexistence of applied and autonomous ideas and stress the importance of communicating with the outside world. An art university should always possess and express a critical point of view, navigating wisely in the sea of conflicts and contradictions.
MOME places its faith, confidence and professional credo in the focus of its education and undertakes the mission of elite training. We stand for elite education that encompasses every degree in art and design. Our belief is reflected in the theoretical and pedagogical training we offer as well as in the courses for managers of art institutions.
MOME'S educational activity focuses on encouraging students to consciously assert their creative talent. Our goal is to form conscious creative personalities who are capable of giving high-quality solutions to problems in their professional field and research as well as actively contributing to the development of the human environment.
Our goal is to develop our students' ability to prepare, design and implement a project. Due to the active interaction between professors and students, our work method enriches the learning process with positive human values. High standard services contribute to the intellectual development of our students, developing their ability to adapt to European models and emphasizing the importance of a culture-based identity.
Our university is a creative and intellectual workshop for design and visual arts where high quality experimental-creative work and scientific research take place. The workshop character is further enhanced by a technical library, a gallery responsible for displaying contemporary artistic processes and thoughts, professional publications and by portraying and maintaining a strong interaction between social, economic, cultural processes and artistic activity.
Our goal, namely to become one of the leading universities of the world - or at least Central Europe - can only be achieved by revaluating the processes in our everyday activities.
