|Enuresis nocturna (which means bedwetting at nights among the boys above the age of 5 and girls above the age of 6) according to doctors, is the second most frequent disease among children after asthma. That means more than 90 000 children are affected with enuresis in Hungary. This illness is curable with the right medication and under doctor's control.
The host place of the camp in this year was the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Hospital's Children hygiene Center's nephrology department. The camp was supervised by enuresis specialists who among different programs had meetings two times a week where they discussed the cause of bedwetting with the children. The work of the therapeutics was supervised by Dr. László Szabó, the nephrology specialist of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Hospital.
The leisure programs that were organized for children included traveling to the nearby cave spa at Miskolc-Tapolca, visiting the attractions of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, going to swimming pool, riding the local railway at Lillafüred and participating in different sport activities.
Among the participants were Krisztina Cselényi's two little children Dominika and Máté. Krisztina told us that her kids had a wonderful time in the camp as there were many interesting programs everyday, eg., once they went to the cave spa the other day to movies or to the theater. As she mentioned Dry Nights Foundation's activities are very important for them, and she also emphasized the significance of organizing this kind of camps to have opportunity to talk about and solve the problem that concerns to these children because this is the only way these kids can live a complete life.
The expenses of the accommodation, catering and the programs were financed by the Dry Nights and Blissful days Foundation together with the Borsod-Abauj-Zemplén County's Hospital. The parents only had to pay for the cost of traveling and pocket money.
Dry Nights Foundation hopes to create a tradition by organizing Enuresis camps and wants to provide the same opportunity to those kids who suffer from this illness to enjoy the camp just as much as healthy kids do. Also the foundation wants to achieve that these kids understand that there is nothing to hide or be ashamed of.
The Foundation finds very important to attract the parents attention that enuresis is treatable and curable if they turn to a nephrologic specialist.
