The merger of Ciba and Sandoz and the creation of Novartis was a great challenge for both internal and external communications. With the merger of two well-established companies present on the market for more than 100 years it was a priority for everyone involved in its communication to make good use of synergies and to minimize threats and losses. Our agency published the biweekly "Merger Newsletter" informing employees about procedures and news of the merger. We also organized the "Festival of Colors" party celebrating the birth of the new company with 700 clients and employees. An intensive media communicational activity and an image campaign in the health and agricultural trade media corroborated the internal communications to create loyalty towards the new company.
